Team Reflection

All 5 stages of team development involve a leader taking charge and ensuring the group members work efficiently and well together. However, we are all equals in our group and do not have a specific leader to manage team operations. That being said, our group did have certain members that took charge and acted as leaders while still understanding we are all equals and have equal say in project ideas.

Stage 1: Forming

The forming stage in our group went rather smoothly. After learning who our group members were we then communicated a time to meet that worked with everyone. This stage in the team development process is very important because it sets the foundation for the rest of our team development. During this stage we as a team clarified team goals such as choosing our company Patagonia, so that it would make the storming stage much easier.

Stage 2: Storming

This is the stage that leads many teams to failure because of a difference in opinion. After the group unanimously agreed to choose Patagonia for our company, we then needed to divide the workload and choose individual roles. This is the stage where teams that cannot cooperate fail. We are not one of those teams. Everyone was very open-minded, and the individual roles got divided with ease. During part 1 of the project the group decided to write a paper for our delivery of the project. We did not get the grade we were hoping for so as a group we discussed changing our approach. These discussions were tense but fruitful. Finally, we unanimously agreed to deliver our project in the form of this blog.

Stage 3: Norming

The textbook explains that this stage is usually very brief (Boone et al., 2020, p. 223). In our case, the textbook is correct. However, during this stage we did communicate more frequently and effectively because we were more comfortable with each other as group members. Understanding how we work well together and individually was a very crucial part for our group. Which in turn helped us with the next stage, performing.

Stage 4: Performing

We are proud to report that our team's performance and output was truly outstanding. Thanks to our thorough preparation and dedication, we were able to complete part 1 of the project a full week ahead of schedule, leaving ample time to edit. Our success was the result of our collective effort, as we worked together seamlessly, drawing on each other's strengths and helping each other with our weaknesses. The hard work we put in during the previous three stages paid off, allowing us to perform with confidence and precision. It is a testament to our commitment to excellence and our ability to achieve great things when we work together towards a common goal. We have continued with the same strategies with a little bit of tweaking on the delivery for part 2 of the project.

Stage 5: Adjourning

This stage is ongoing because it focuses on reflection of the accomplishments we made. I believe that as a group we should be proud of the work we have completed. However, this stage is not only reflecting on the accomplishments, but it is reflecting on what we as a group and individually have learned.
